My details have changed. How do I let Motorworks know?
1) The easiest way to order is through the secure order system on this site. Go to secure ordering on the main menu, and follow the instructions there.
2) By ‘phone at local rate 0845 458 0076 (international 00 44 1484 353602). This line is open from 9.00 ‘til 5.30 Monday to Friday and 9.00 ‘til 1.00 on Saturday. We have late ‘phone lines on Tuesday until 8.00p.m. Open all bank holidays except Christmas.
3) We also have a ‘PART No ORDER LINE’.This line is for ordering NEW, CATALOGUE ITEMS ONLY when you have the PART NUMBERS TO HAND and do not require advice. We introduced this service as our normal line (above) was becoming too busy in the Spring and Summer. There are 25 staff on this line so you should have no problem getting through and there are extended opening hours. The line is open 8 ‘til 8 Monday to Friday and 9.00 ‘til 4.30 Saturday and Sunday. This is a FREEPHONE number. 0800 781 0110.
4) By fax. Use our fax number at any time of day or night. You can use a printed out secure order form for this purpose or go freestyle. This can be a good method if you need to send us drawings etc. Local rate number is 0845 458 0076. International number is 00 44 1484 353602.
5) By post. If you are unsure of any details then it can be best to ring before posting an order; we can then also have your order waiting when your cheque arrives.
6) Call in and see us at the shop!
We accept all cards (credit cards and switch) except American Express. Note that some “solo” cards do not authorise if the user is not present so can not be used unless you are in the shop.
You can also pay by cheque or cash or postal order though we recommend that if you send cash or postal orders by post you send it registered. We can not accept liability for cash or postal orders lost until it is signed for at this end.
Do I pay VAT if I am exporting my parts?
If you buy goods in this country but then permanently export them you can reclaim the VAT. Ask us for the appropriate form when you buy the goods and get it stamped at customs. Return the form to us and we will refund the VAT.
To double check it may be worth charging it whilst
disconnected from the bike; since some electrical problems on the bike could
lead to a constant drain on the battery whilst the ignition is off. (i.e.
leaky diodes in the charging circuit).
A faster test is to use a multi-meter between say the battery +, and the
+ cable (disconnected from the battery) and check there's no current flowing
with the ignition off. Start with about 5A setting just in case,
then work down to about 500mA (fsd).
Any current flowing over say 50mA (allowing for alarms/clock etc) suggests
there may be a bike electrical problem other than the battery.
How do I calculate my postage cost?
For UK postage we charge a minimum of £2.00 for first class post. Above 1kg we charge £5.45 plus VAT, except Highlands and Islands. For items over 10kg, Highlands and Islands, Ireland and overseas, postage is calculated at point of despatch. We can provide a variety of services such as delivery before 10.00a.m etc. If you need a quote for postage or would like us to contact you prior to despatch with the postage cost let us know when you order.
Are items listed in the catalogue in stock?
We aim to keep 99% of all new items listed in the catalogue in stock. When you order, assume that the parts are in stock and we will contact you if there is a problem. If you are collecting the parts then ring before you collect to check availability. Remember, if BMW make it we can supply it (and a lot more besides!). The secondhand listing is to give a price guide and indicate the range of secondhand items we stock. In actual fact it only represents a fraction of the stock but as some parts have a very quick turnover they can be rare. It is best to check availability of secondhand parts before ordering but if you want to just place an order you may and we will inform you if there is a stock shortage.
