All other racks for these models fit to either the pannier frames or the seat cowling neither providing enough strength to allow much luggage to be carried. Mounted to the bike's subframe this rack provides a much stronger base to carry a reasonable amount of luggage or a top box and is hinged to allow the seat to be opened without removal.
