This Lightweight Piston and Barrel Kit provides everything required for upgrading BMW R100 models produced from 09/1980 onwards with high quality components.  In addition to two Nikasil plated cylinders, the kit includes forged pistons that are 110 grams lighter than the originals, as well as high-quality piston ring sets and gudgeon pins with circlips.  A top end gasket set and a comprehensive installation guide round off the set.  As with its little 800cc sister, the 1000cc engine gets a real increase in power and torque over the entire power spectrum after the kit has been fitted.  The new pistons run a compression ratio of 9.5:1.  Around 67 hp is available after the modification.  Once in use, the kit shows an improvement in quiet-running and, because of the lighter pistons, a faster revving, livelier response.
