This starter motor is original fitment on the later 2 valve twins, but will fit all models 1975 onwards. It is lighter (2.74kg compared to 4.46kg) and turns the engine quicker than the Bosch type. This is to replace 9 tooth starter motors. 

As of 2022, this starter motor is now produced by Valeo with 10 teeth due to production changes, but the functionality is still the same. 

Please note: the magnets on these starters are no longer glued in place. They are now clipped in position, offering far greater reliability than previously.
