1) Browse our product pages by model, you'll find all post 1970 models listed. Once you've found your model you can click through to the relevant parts category and add parts to your shopping basket. If you're looking for secondhand spares see our pricelist. Please note that the secondhand listing is to give a price guide and indicate the range of secondhand items we stock. In actual fact it only represents a fraction of the stock we hold.

2) Search our product database using the parts search box in the grey area at the top of the page. Enter the name or part number of the part you're looking for and click on the magnifying glass icon. You can use either Motorworks part numbers or BMW part numbers to find parts. If you'd like to find the BMW part number for a part then try using the RealOEM site (see right hand column). The Real OEM online parts fiche carries details of all parts fitted to BMWs right up to the present day. Use the fiche to look up part numbers which can then be copied into our search box to find our part number(s) and price(s).

• Click on our link to the Real OEM site
• Find your bike by entering the frame (serial) number or using the model dropdown. If you are using the model dropdown and have an air cooled twin or 2 valve per cylinder K series select 'archive' in the catalogue dropdown to take you to the correct menu.
• Select your model, area and date and click 'browse parts' to view the fiche.
• Most users find the parts easier to locate if they use images rather than text. To do this click the 'switch to images drill down' button.
• Progress through the series of diagrams until you reach the detailed diagram of the part you are interested in.
• Detailed diagrams have parts numbered and useful information below.
• By copying the 11 digit BMW part numbers into the search box on our site you can find our part number(s) and price(s). PLEASE NOTE THAT WE CAN OBTAIN ANY BMW MOTORCYCLE PART FOR YOU THAT IS STILL MADE - if you do not find it on our site please ring or send a query through the help section on our site.
• Many searches will display a choice of new, used, pattern or reconditioned parts. BMW parts often have multiple bike applications so don't worry if the search results show other models as well as your own.
• Please do not hesitate to ring us if you have any queries. Parts ordered by phone are the same prices as online.

If you're ordering parts from Motorworks by telephone it is also helpful to have the BMW part number and your chassis number. Remember we stock many more parts than we list on this site and can supply any part manufactured by BMW.

1) The easiest way to order is using the secure shopping cart on this site. Select products by browsing the site and adding to your shopping cart, when you are finished proceed to the checkout to make a secure payment using Sagepay.

2) By 'phone at local rate 0845 458 0077 (international 00 44 1484 353600). This line is open from 9.00 till 5.30 Monday to Friday and 9.00 till 1.00 on Saturday. We are closed on bank holidays and between Christmas and New Year. This is the method used by most customers, especially if secondhand parts are required. If paying by card please have your full details to hand as we do not store card details.

3) By fax. Use our fax number at any time of day or night. This can be a good method if you need to send us drawings etc. Our local rate fax number is 0845 458 0078. The international number is 00 44 1484 353604.

4) By post. If you are unsure of any details then it can be best to ring before posting an order; we can then also have your order waiting when your cheque arrives. Please include telephone number if using this method.

5) For pre-ordered parts you can collect at our collection counter rather than having the parts posted. Please include a telephone contact number when ordering so we contact you if necessary and please ring before you collect to check availability. Remember - we are a mail order company so we do not cater for customers arriving with a shopping list.

NB However you choose to order please, if possible, supply your chassis number.

We accept all credit and switch cards except American Express, Diner, International EDC-Maestro and Laser. If you are ordering on this site please double check your number after entering. Note that some "solo" cards do not authorise if the user is not present so can only be used at our collection counter. Please note we do not store card details and use 'Sagepay' to process all our card payments. Sagepay's system is extremely secure and encrypted using 128-bit SSL certificates. If ordering by telephone please have your card details, including security number, to hand.

We also welcome cheque or cash or postal order on telephone orders and collections but not on orders placed through this site. We recommend that if you send cash or postal orders by post you use registered post. We cannot accept liability for cash or postal orders lost until signed for at this end. You also have the option of paying for your order through paypal should the other pay methods be a problem. There is a 4% surcharge to do so and you must contact us for further details. Customers abroad sometimes find it easier to use a bank transfer. When you order the goods we can supply our bank details so that you can transfer the money to our account. This method is usually very quick. All prices shown on the site include Value Added Tax and are in £/GBP (pound sterling). The currency converter is for reference only and you will always be charged in £/GBP

If you buy goods in this country but then permanently export them you can reclaim the VAT. Ask us for the appropriate form when you buy the goods and get it stamped at customs. Return the form to us and we will refund the VAT. Parts posted to addresses outside the EU are not charged VAT

To double check it may be worth charging it whilst disconnected from the bike; since some electrical problems on the bike could lead to a constant drain on the battery whilst the ignition is off. (i.e. leaky diodes in the charging circuit).

A faster test is to use a multi-meter between say the battery +, and the + cable (disconnected from the battery) and check there's no current flowing with the ignition off. Start with about 5A setting just in case, then work down to about 500mA (fsd).

Any current flowing over say 50mA (allowing for alarms/clock etc) suggests there may be an electrical problem other than the battery.

We keep the majority of all new items listed on our web site in stock. When you order new parts, assume that they are in stock and we will contact you if there is a problem. If you are collecting the parts then please ring before you collect to check availability. Remember, if BMW make it we can supply it (and a lot more besides!).
